the RWTH Aachen University for reviewing this thesis and giving me the opportunity to write it in the field of Computer Graphics, which fascinates me since my first steps on the Commodore 128D. A special thanks goes to my advisor Volker Schönefeld, who got me interested in Megatexturing and Virtual Texturing. He always took some of his spare time to read my long emails and had enough patience to give me advice when I got stuck during the course of this thesis. Furthermore I want to thank Sebastian Raubach for reading the thesis and giving constructive feedback and Andreas Tönnis for not falling asleep when I talked about Virtual Texturing (which was quite often in the past months).
